2022 Funding Projects

East Fork Restoration Project (White Clouds Preserve)

This project is focused on monitoring and restoring salmon and steelhead populations and habitat conditions on the East Fork Salmon River, in consultation and cooperation with the Shoshone-Bannock Tribes. Project funding will support riparian restoration efforts along 1.25 miles of the East Fork on the Preserve property, including planting of native cottonwoods, willows and other vegetation. This work complements salmon and steelhead recovery goals established by NOAA Fisheries and the Shoshone-Bannock Tribes.

Panther Creek Project (Western Rivers Conservancy)

This project will convey a recently acquired 110-acre inholding along Panther Creek to the Salmon-Challis National Forest, setting the stage for habitat recovery along this major tributary to Salmon River. The property spans nearly a mile of the river and has been identified as a high priority to aid species recovery. Western Rivers Conservancy is currently negotiating purchase of the adjacent 448 acres, controlling three-quarters of a mile of both banks of Panther Creek, to further expand this effort.

Split River Restoration Project (Lemhi Soil & Water Conservation District)

This project will move the L-39 diversion on the Lemhi River to make room for an extensive fish habitat restoration project to benefit the Endangered Species Act (ESA) listed Chinook salmon and steelhead. The project will transfer water rights to benefit fish and add a piped system water delivery to benefit the agricultural producer’s efficiency.
